La vita è bella: la colonna sonora di Piovani cantata da Noa

Recentemente ho saputo che una mia amica ha dato alla luce una bambina. Ha preparato una collezione di musica per ascoltare in sala di parto e la bambina è nata proprio nel momento in cui questa canzone—La vita è bella—suonava. È la colonna sonora scritto da Nicola Piovani per il film ed è stata interpretata da Noa una cantante di Israele.

Recently I learned that a friend had given birth to a baby girl. She prepared a collection of music to listen to in the birthing room and the baby was born at the precise moment this song—La vita è bella—was playing. It is the theme song written by Nicola Piovani for the film of the same name, sung by Noa an Israeli signer.

Che bel modo per accogliere una neonata nel mondo e ci tenevo di condividere la canzone con tutti voi.

What a wonderful way to welcome a child into the world and I wanted to share the song with all of you.

In un intervista Noa ha spiegato:

Nicola Piovani mi chiese di scrivere dei versi per due suoi temi tratti dal film “La vita è bella” di Benigni. “Buongiorno Principessa” era un po’ troppo lento ed i versi non si adattavano bene. Quando, invece, ho sentito quello che poi è diventato “Beautiful that way” ne sono stata subito conquistata. E’ stato come se la musica mi avesse detto: per favore, scrivi i versi per me».

Nicola Piovani asked me to write some verses for two of the tracts from the film “La vita è bella” directed by Benigni. “Buongiorno Principessa” was a little too slow and the verses weren’t fitting. When, however, I heard what was to become “Beautiful that way” I was conquered. It was as if the music had spoken to me: please, write verses for me.”

Noa fa letteralmente sua quella sequenza di note e dà vita ad un pezzo davvero emozionante, un testo semplice e toccante, uno “shalom” cantato al pubblico, un augurio che comunica un’idea della vita che esclude l’odio e il pregiudizio. “Smile, without a reason why”, già dalla prima frase Beautiful that day è un inno alla speranza e si rivolge a tutti, indifferentemente, perché “quel che è vero e quel che sogniamo è solo amore”.

Noa gives her special touch to these sequences of notes and gives life to the piece in a very emotional way. The text is simple and touching, a “shalom” sung to her audience, a wish that communicates the idea of a life without hate or prejudice. “Smile, without a reason why”, from the very first sentence, “Beautiful that day” is a hymn to hope and is addressed to everyone, without discrimination, because we all dream only of love.

Le note di Piovani, la voce di Noa e le scene di Benigni ci ricordano che la banalità del male ha già avuto la meglio tante volte; eppure oggi, come sempre, sta a noi tutti coltivare questa memoria e decidere ogni giorno di andare controcorrente, sta a noi essere sostenitori convinti di una cultura della pace e dell’accoglienza. Un grande rivoluzionario ha detto un po’ di tempo fa: ”Siate sempre capaci di sentire nel più profondo qualunque ingiustizia commessa contro chiunque in qualunque parte del mondo”, perché questa sia la nostra rivoluzione ogni giorno.

Piovani’music, Noa’s voice, and Benigni’s scenes remind us that the banality of evil has already prevailed many times; yet today, as always, it is up to us all to remember this and to decide every day to go against the current. It is up to us all to be the harbingers of peace and acceptance. A great revolutionist once said, “Always be able to feel the deepest injustice committed against others in any part of the world, because that is our revolution every day.”
