Doreen Fiorillo Studentessa Matta Blog reader explains why she learns Italian

Ciao ragazzi! Questo è il secondo post in una serie dei racconti “Perché voglio imparare l’Italiano”

Oggi vorrei farvi conoscere Doreen Fiorillo. Alcuni giorni fa dopo aver letto il post su di Ishita Sood, Doreen mi ha scritto spiegando le sue ragioni per imparare la lingua. Lei ha iniziata a studiare la lingua per avere un legame più stretto con i suoi nonni! 

Today I would like to introduce to you Doreen Fiorillo. A couple of days ago after she read the post by Ishita Sood, Doreen wrote to explaining her reasons for learning the language. She began her journey to learn the language to have a closer bond with her grandparents!

Ecco Doreen:

Ho deciso studiare italiano e spagnola, le due lingue dei miei antenati fa molti anni. Miei nonni paterni (Fiorillo) hanno parlato italiano e miei nonni materni (Martinez) hanno parlato spagnolo. Sfortunatamente non abbiamo potuto visitarli molto spesso. Abbiamo abitato negli stati diversi. Quando mi  hanno parlato, non ho capito niente.

Allora, studio e parlo le due lingue, e le culture,  in onore di miei nonni. Mi sento stretta con loro. 

I decided to study Italian and Spanish, the two languages of my ancestors many years ago. My paternal grandparents Fiorillo spoke Italian and my maternal grandparents Martinez spoke Spanish. Unfortunately, we could not visit them very often. We lived in different states. When we visited and they talked to me, I did not understand anything.

So I decided to study both languages, and cultures, in honor of my grandparents. It makes me feel close to them.

Motivi per amare l’Italia  / Reasons I love Italy

Un rispetto per la famiglia, la cucina e le tradizioni culturali; Un  terra, che somiglia un stivale, di offrire montagne, spiagge, laghi, campagna, medievali e moderne città per piacere; Le feste che onorano Giorni Santi, il cibo, il vino, la pasta, i artigianato del paese; Una lingua lirica, l’arte e scultura che  riscalda il cuore e l’anima , e musica che incoraggia ballare. E, infine, l’Italia è la terra dei  miei nonni.

Respect for family, cuisine, and cultural traditions; A boot-shaped land offering mountains, beaches, lakes, countryside, medieval and modern cities for enjoyment; Festivals that honor Saints’ Days, food, wine, handcrafted wares; A lyrical language,  art and sculpture that warm the heart and soul,  and lively music that encourages dance. And, finally, Italy is the country of my grandparents.

Brava Doreen! Bellissime parole! Vedo che tu viaggia spesso in Italia e che tu ama la lingua! Grazie per aver partecipato in questa serie. Un abbraccio!
