Garda: arRiva la Befana subacquea!

Voglio condividere con voi una storia come festeggiano la Befana a Riva del Garda. Dopotutto Natale non è finito prima che la Befana arriva! Ecco un guest blog in cui la mia cara amica Rossella Rebonata spiega come loro festeggiano l’arrivo della Befana a Garda.

I want to share with you a story of how they celebrate the Befana in Riva del Garda. After all Christmas isn’t over until the Befana makes an appearance! Here is a guest blog in which my dear friend Rosella Rebonata explains how they celebrate the arrival of the Befana a Garda!

A Riva del Garda, ridente località trentina sulle sponde del lago di Garda, si celebra la Befana in un modo alquanto insolito…si perché questa volta si tratta di una Befana subacquea che arriva direttamente dalle acque gelide del lago.

In Riva del Garda, a charming town on the shores of Lake Garda, the Befana is celebrated in a somewhat unusual way…she arrives upon the shore directly from under icy waters of the lake.

Il 6 gennaio scorso ho così pensato di portare il mio bambino a questo simpatico evento e ne è valsa veramente la pena visto il divertimento assicurato!

Last January 6th I took my son to this delightful event which turned out to very worthwhile and delightful!

Appena arrivati in piazza 3 Novembre abbiamo notato subito una moltitudine di gente e di banchetti gastronomici che servivano le migliori specialità trentine quali panini con la carne “salada” (manzo salmistrato tagliato a fette sottilissime) e la polenta concia preparata dal Gruppo Polentari Valle di Ledro.

As soon as we arrived in Piazza November 3 we say a great number of people enjoying delicious foods served from the varies stands. They were offering specialities of the Trentino region, such as sandwiches with salted and cured beef, sliced very thin and polenta prepared by the Gruppo Polentari Valle di Ledro.

Nell’attesa dell’arrivo della Befana, i bambini si divertivano a saltare sui “gonfiabili” allestiti appositamente per l’occasione!

While waiting for the Befana’s arrival the children amused themselves by jumping on the inflatables prepared for them just for this occasion!

Oppure venivano intrattenuti dalle magie degli artisti di strada!

Or they were entertained by the magic of street artists!

Poteva mancare un bicchiere di vin Brulè per riscaldare noi adulti? Certo che no! E chi meglio degli alpini può permettersi di preparare questa deliziosa bevanda calda?

Could we pass up the mulled wine to warm the adults? Of course not! And who better than the Alpini to prepare this delicious drink for the crowd!

Nel primo pomeriggio la gente si è poi radunata intorno alle sponde del lago per aspettare trepidante l’arrivo della Befana!

In the afternoon people began to gather around the shores of the lake in anticipation of the Befana’s arrival!

La festa è giunta quasi al termine e Il sole caldo che ha allietato insolitamente Riva del Garda in una giornata invernale inizia a calare lentamente, manca poco al tramonto ed è arrivato il momento di ritornare a casa, stanchi, molto stanchi, ma felici.

The party gradually came to an end just as the sun that warmed the shores of Garda on this special winter day began to fade and we arrived home just before sunset, tired, very tired but happy.
