In realtà, IO non uccido! Non potrei fare male nemmeno a una mosca! È il protagonista inventato da Giorgio Faletti che commette gli omicidi. Shhh! Zitta io rimarrò… l’identità del serial killer resta un segreto per non rovinare la storia a chi non ha ancora letto il libro. Posso solo confessarvi che, dopo pochi capitoli, avevo già indovinato il colpevole dietro gli omicidi macabri. Non per vantarmi, ma di solito riesco a capire chi è il colpevole sia nei film che nei libri. Diciamo solo che in questo caso avevo azzeccato subito: il killer si fa chiamare “Nessuno” e riesce a ingannare la polizia con astuzia.

I’ll stay quiet… the serial killer’s identity remains a secret so I don’t spoil the plot for those who haven’t read it yet. I can only confess that after just a few chapters, I had already guessed the culprit behind the gruesome murders. Not to brag, but I can usually figure out the guilty party in both films and books. Let’s just say that this time, I nailed it right away: the killer calls himself “Nobody” and manages to cleverly fool the police.

Ero nel bel mezzo della lettura di “Io uccido” in italiano quando è arrivato il mio turno per scegliere un libro per il mio book club americano. Non volevo smettere di leggerlo, così ho trovato la versione inglese per il gruppo, così da poter proseguire senza interruzioni. All’inizio le mie amiche erano un po’ perplesse dalla premessa, ma alla fine il consenso è stato positivo. Eravamo d’accordo che Faletti avesse scritto un racconto inquietante ma affascinante. Alcune di noi pensavano che ci fossero troppi dettagli superflui che rallentavano la trama principale… ma la storia centrale? Avvincente! La discussione del club è stata vivace e intensa.
I was in the middle of reading “Io Uccido” in Italian when it was my turn to choose a book for my American book club. I didn’t want to stop reading, so I found the English version for the group, allowing me to continue without interruptions. At first, my friends were a little unsure about the premise, but in the end, the consensus was positive. We all agreed that Faletti had written a creepy yet fascinating tale. Some thought there were too many unnecessary details that slowed down the main plot… but the core story? Gripping! Our book club discussion was lively and intense.

Durante le nostre riunioni, la padrona di casa prepara sempre qualcosa da mangiare legato al tema del libro. Questa volta, io ho deciso di preparare antipasti un po’… inquietanti! Sembrava perfetto realizzare “finger foods” in senso letterale: piccoli dolci a forma di dita e facce! Vi lascio immaginare il motivo di questa scelta… basta leggere i primi capitoli per capire il riferimento e, forse, per indovinare anche voi l’identità di “Nessuno”.
At our meetings, the hostess always prepares something to eat related to the book’s theme. This time, I decided to make appetizers that were just a bit… creepy! It seemed perfect to create “finger foods” in the literal sense: little pastries shaped like fingers and faces! I’ll let you imagine the reason behind this choice… you only need to read the first chapters to catch the reference and, maybe, to guess the identity of “Nobody” yourself.
