In realtà IO non uccido! Non posso fare male ad una mosca! È stato il protagonista inventato da Giorgio Faletti che ha ucciso. Shhh! Starò zitta! Tengo l’identità del serial killer un segreto perché non voglio rovinare la storia per tutti voi che non avete letto il libro. Posso solo dirvi che dopo aver letto solo alcuni capitoli ho indovinato la persona dietro gli omicidi macabre. Non voglio vantarmi, ma posso di solito riesco a indovinare il colpevole in film e in libri. È un talento che io possiedo. Diciamo solo che in questo caso ho anche indovinato subito l’identità del killer che si chiama “Nessuno”, che inganna ingegnosamente la polizia.

I can only tell you that after having read only a few chapters I guessed the person behind the macabre killings. I don’t want to brag, but usually, I can guess the guilty party in films and books. It is a talent that I possess. Let’s just say that in this case I also guessed right away the identity of the killer, who is called “Nobody”, who ingeniously fools the police and leads them on a wild goose chase.

Ero nel mezzo di leggere il libro di Faletti in Italiano quando ha toccato a me di scegliere un libro per il mio book club americano. Non volevo mettere giù il libro così  ho trovato una versione inglese per il gruppo in modo che potessi continuare a leggere il libro senza interruzione. All’inizio le amiche erano un po’ sconvolte dalla premessa del libro, ma dopo aver letto il libro il consenso è stata positiva. In generale eravamo d’accordo che Faletti ha scritto un racconto terrificante, ma interessante. Molte di noi abbiamo pensato che Faletti ha incluso troppi dettagli inutili che ha prolungato la storia principale. Però la storia nucleo era avvincente. La nostra discussione era molta animata e eravamo d’accordo che era una lettura inquietante ma affascinante.

I was in the middle of reading Faletti’s book in Italian when it was my turn to choose a book for my American book club. I didn’t want to put the book down so I found the English version for my group so that I could continue to read the book without interruption.  At first, my friends were a little put off by the book’s premise, but after having read the book the consensus was positive. In general, we were in agreement that Faletti had written a horrifying tale, but an interesting one. Many of us thought he had included too many unnecessary details which prolonged the main story. However, the core story was compelling. Our discussion was very animated and we unanimously agreed that it was a creepy but fascinating read.

Per le nostre riunioni la padrona di solito prepara qualcosa da mangiare che segue il tema del libro. Per questo incontro ho fatto antipasti che sono stati un po’ insoliti. È sembrato ideale di preparare piccoli dolci di forma di dita e facce. Potete lasciare correre le vostre immaginazioni per indovinare il significato dietro tutto questo. For our book club meetings, the hostess usually prepares something to eat that fits the theme of the book. For this particular meeting, I created appetizers that were just a tad unusual. It seemed appropriate to prepare “finger foods”, as we say in English. And they were just that, little pastries shaped in the form of fingers and faces! You can let your imaginations run wild in order to guess the significance behind all this. You need only to read a few chapters of the book to fully understand.
