Homestay with Renata
Milano City Center

Learning Italian with Renata Through Culture and Everyday Life. Students who want a closer experience of everyday Italian life can stay with Renata and her family in their home in central Milan. Renata is a native Italian teacher who loves languages, culture, and sharing Italy through real-life experience. She believes language is learned best not only through grammar, but through conversation, listening, and cultural discovery.

In Milan, learning often continues beyond the lesson itself. Students may explore the city while practicing Italian in everyday situations, with visits to parks, historic house museums, concerts, and, for music lovers, the area around Teatro alla Scala.

Renata can also arrange activities such as Italian cooking classes, yoga sessions, and cultural outings focused on art and local traditions, as well as day trips to places like Genoa, Pavia, Bergamo, Brescia, Bologna, Lake Como, and Lake Maggiore.

Welcome Home to Milano: During the homestay, students share in everyday Italian life: cooking together, visiting the market, meeting Renata’s friends, and exploring the city while speaking Italian. It is a natural and effective way to learn, because conversation becomes part of daily life.

Time in Milan also means experiencing its beauty and energy, from the Duomo and Castello Sforzesco to the lively Navigli canals. Often described as a shy and discreet city, Milan does not flaunt its charm, but reveals it slowly through elegant palazzi, historic streets, and its graceful trams.

With Renata, students learn Italian not only through study, but through real experiences, shared moments, and daily conversation. They are encouraged to speak freely, accept mistakes as part of the process, and gradually feel more confident and at home in Italy.

Renata’s centrally located homestay is especially appealing for lovers of art, architecture, and music, with easy access to museums, theaters, markets, aperitivo spots, and unforgettable landmarks like The Last Supper.

Renata’s Home in Milano

Renata’s apartment is ideally situated in the heart of Milan, close to landmarks like Sforzesco Castle and Santa Maria delle Grazie Church. Well-connected by a comprehensive public transport network—including trains, metros, trams, buses, and bike paths — the neighborhood ensures easy citywide access.

The apartment is on the third floor of an early 20th-century Milanese “palazzo” with a spacious courtyard. It is open, airy, and bathed in natural light, offering views of the green spaces preserved by Milan’s CityLife initiative. Surrounded by trendy bars and well-stocked grocery stores, Renata’s place offers modern convenience and historical charm. Milan’s bustling commercial hubs and its cherished cultural sites are within easy reach.

Meet Renata and her Family

Renata lives in Milan and has a strong passion for art, books, cinema, music, theater, good food, travel, and nature. Her children, Alessandro, 23, and Caterina, 21, are students living away from home but often come to visit. Alessandro is also a sailing instructor and can organize boat trips on Lake Como, while Caterina studies art restoration in Florence and sometimes joins “la mamma” on visits to art galleries.

As a guest, you will share a spacious living room and a warm, inviting kitchen with Renata’s family. Your private bedroom is comfortably equipped with a double bed, a desk, a TV, Wi-Fi, and an en suite bathroom, making it suitable for either a single traveler or a couple. Additionally, two bicycles are available for your use—an excellent way to explore Milan’s extensive bike paths independently.

What to Expect from Renata’s Homestay Language Course

What to Expect from Renata’s Language Course:

Renata is a highly qualified Italian instructor for foreigners, holding a degree in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Milan. Her passion for languages and cultures ignited early as she delved into the classics, studying Latin and ancient Greek. This foundational study enriched her understanding of linguistic structures and historical contexts. Further advancing her expertise, Renata earned the DITALS I certification from the prestigious University for Foreigners of Siena, a recognition that attests to her proficiency in teaching Italian to non-native speakers.

Renata does not offer standardized courses. Each program is tailored to the individual student. Preparation begins before the student arrives in Italy. Through emails and conversations, Renata learns about the student’s interests, goals, and language level. Based on this exchange, she creates a learning program suited to the student’s personality and pace.

For example, an art lover might practice Italian while looking at a painting, describing it, learning new vocabulary, and discussing it together. Lessons develop naturally and without pressure. Renata believes that patience is essential when learning a language: progress comes step by step, allowing new knowledge to settle and become natural.
