Commissario Ricciardi:

In the third novel of the Commissario Ricciardi series, “Il posto di ognuno,” we return to Naples in August 1931, where a brutal, airless heat settles over the city’s streets and the shadowy rooms of its palazzi. The Feast of Santa Maria Regina, with its traditional bonfire, has only just ended when the Duchess Adriana Musso di Camparino is found dead in her home, discovered by her governess. Ricciardi is drawn into an investigation where appearances can be misleading and small details matter. As always, the case is shaped by his uncanny gift: he hears the victim’s final words, an echo that helps guide him toward the truth. A mystery driven by jealousy and possession, “Il posto di ognuno” explores how desire, control, and the need for freedom can quietly build—especially under the unrelenting Neapolitan heat.

Paolo Cresta is the brilliant Italian voice behind the 15-book Commissario Ricciardi series — and he’s truly a masterful narrator. I’ve listened to all fifteen audiobooks, and I continue to be amazed by the depth and nuance of his performance. Cresta effortlessly shifts tone, rhythm, and even regional accents to bring both male and female characters to life in a way that feels natural, theatrical, and thoroughly engaging. His narration adds another layer of emotion and atmosphere to de Giovanni’s already poetic writing. I highly recommend experiencing the series in audio format — you can find all the titles on Audible.com or Audible.it.
