In Italian, we call those little odds and ends — the knick-knacks, trinkets, clutter, and “why on earth do I still have this?” items — cianfrusagli!

But don’t worry… even cianfrusagli can hold sweet memories. Sometimes the smallest things tell the biggest stories.

Try it in a sentence:

“Devo fare ordine… ho troppe cianfrusagli in casa!”

Watch out for “lista”… and “A-lista!”

AS YOUR HOLIDAY LISTS GROW LONGER,
HERE’S A CHEERFUL ITALIAN TIDBIT TO ENJOY:

In Italian, “lista” is your everyday “list,” but if someone says “sei all’ultimo della lista”, it doesn’t mean you forgot to write your name—it means you’re last in line or not exactly a priority. Ouch! 😅

On the other hand, if someone tells you “ti metto in lista” for a party, congratulations—you just made the VIP list, Italian-style!

BONUS HOLIDAY EXPRESSION:

If your to-do list is getting out of hand, you can say:

“Ho una lista che non finisce più!”
—“I have a list that never ends!”
