It is hard to put into words how incredible this story is. I loved every moment of this well laid out and written novel.
È difficile da spiegare a parole quanto sia incredibile questa storia. Ho adorato ogni momento di questo romanzo ben strutturato e scritto.
The story centers around two incredibly brave and strong women, Maddie and Artemisia [who] faced great trials and humiliation but through it all they remained strong and defiant. They showed that society could try to beat them down, but they would not remain down. This is such an important, positive message for young women today. We are not our past and we should never let it define us.
La storia è incentrata su due donne incredibilmente coraggiose e forti, Maddie e Artemisia (che) hanno affrontato grandi prove e umiliazioni ma attraverso tutto ciò sono rimaste forti e contro ogni sfida. Hanno dimostrato che la società potrebbe cercare di sconfiggerli, ma non sono sarebbero rimasti sconfitte. Questo è un messaggio così importante e positive per le giovani donne di oggi. I loved the idea of time travel and how Maddie was tied to women from the past and her love, Matteo, that she finds each century. I fell in love with Venice when I traveled there as a teen, nothing has ever felt more like home. I felt like I had walked those streets before, seen those sights and smells. So for me, I could definitely appreciate the idea of time not being linear and a soul being tied to a certain time, person and love.
Mi è piaciuta l’idea del viaggio nel tempo e di come Maddie fosse legata alle donne del passato e al suo amore, Matteo, che trova ogni secolo. Mi sono innamorata di Venezia quando ho viaggiato lì da adolescente, niente è mai sembrato più come a casa. Mi sentivo come se avessi camminato per quelle strade prima, visto quelle viste e gli odori. Quindi per me, potrei sicuramente apprezzare l’idea che il tempo non sia lineare e che un’anima sia legata ad un certo tempo, persona e amore.
This novel is a definite must-read, you will not want to put it down.

This book read like a love letter to all of European History, it mixed mediums and blurred lines between Catholic biblical principles and events in history that were chronicled in time. Maddie is the main character in this book and her passion for art and life is just inspiring – [Italy] the setting of this book played a hand in that too.
Questo libro è stato letto come una lettera d’amore a tutta la storia europea, sono state mescolate cronache ed eventi nella storia che sono stati raccontati in tempo. Maddie è la protagonista di questo libro e la sua passione per l’arte e la vita è un fonte d’ispirazione. L’ambientazione [Italia] di questo libro è anche affascinante.
How else could you describe this book? It was beautifully written and captured the concept of time travel that kind of merged with the idea of Maddie’s past and current realities. It was a completely magical experience reading this book and I can’t wait to read whatever Melissa Muldoon has next.
