La storia di Lisa: un’aspirante avvocata e anche una madre con un segreto

Lisa Marcelli, interpretata da Vanessa Incontrada, è una giovane vedova, madre di due figli, e una donna che fa di tutto per restare a galla mentre le bollette si accumulano e le possibilità si riducono di giorno in giorno. Come se il dolore non fosse già abbastanza, scopre solo dopo la morte del marito che lui le era stato infedele, una rivelazione amara che rende una perdita già difficile ancora più complessa da elaborare. Lisa Marcelli, played by Vanessa Incontrada, is a young widow, a mother of two, and a woman doing everything she can to keep her head above water as the bills pile up and her options grow thinner by the day. As if grief were not enough to carry, she learns only after her husband’s death that he had been unfaithful, a bitter discovery that makes an already painful loss even harder to untangle. So when she is finally offered a position at a prestigious law firm, it feels less like a career move and more like a lifeline thrown just in time.
C’è però un problema, piuttosto frustrante. There is, however, one rather infuriating catch. Her future boss, the brilliant but emotionally knotted Enrico Vinci, has a firm rule: no employees with “family distractions.” Shaped by his own unresolved history of lies, betrayal, and family wounds, he insists that Lisa promise she has no children, though she has no idea what hides behind such a cold and capricious demand.

Enrico Vinci, interpretato da Lino Guanciale, è tutto ciò che Lisa non è: lucido, impeccabilmente controllato e fermamente convinto che le emozioni vadano tenute a bada. Cresciuto nella Napoli bene, è un uomo abituato a comandare, a ottenere ciò che vuole e a non lasciare mai intravedere una crepa nella sua armatura.
Enrico Vinci, played by Lino Guanciale, is everything Lisa is not: cool-headed, impeccably controlled, and firmly convinced that emotions should be kept on a very short leash. Raised in Naples’s polished upper crust, he is a man accustomed to being in charge, getting his way, and never allowing anyone to glimpse a crack in the armor.
Eppure Enrico è una contraddizione tanto affascinante quanto esasperante. Dice di detestare le bugie, ma la sua vita è piena di segreti, compresi più di alcuni dei suoi. And yet Enrico is a wonderfully maddening contradiction. He claims to despise lies, but his life is crowded with secrets, including more than a few of his own. For someone so determined to keep everything neat, orderly, and under control, he has an undeniable gift for landing squarely in emotional chaos.
Con il passare degli episodi, la tensione tra Enrico e Lisa cresce in modo magistrale, fatta di scambi pungenti, silenzi carichi di significato, sguardi intensi e tutte quelle parole mai dette. Allo studio legale, la situazione si fa ancora più esplosiva: tra Lisa e il suo capo scoppia un’attrazione evidente, mentre la gelosia comincia a ribollire in Marta Castelli, la collega ambiziosa che ha chiaramente passato più tempo a immaginarsi come la signora Enrico Vinci di quanto Enrico abbia mai fatto.
As the episodes unfold, the tension between Enrico and Lisa builds beautifully through sharp exchanges, lingering silences, charged glances, and all the words left unsaid. At the law firm, things become even more combustible as attraction flares between Lisa and her boss, while jealousy begins to simmer in Marta Castelli, the ambitious colleague who has clearly spent more time imagining herself as Mrs. Enrico Vinci than Enrico ever has.
E poi, naturalmente, arriva l’amore a complicare tutto. Una bugia fragile diventa molto più difficile da sostenere quando entrano in gioco sentimenti autentici. È un conto imporre regole precise su dipendenti senza legami o distrazioni. And then, naturally, love begins to complicate everything. A fragile lie becomes much harder to sustain once real feelings enter the room. It is one thing to impose tidy rules about hiring women who are supposedly free of attachments and distractions. It is quite another to realize that the very woman you chose for being uncomplicated is slowly becoming the one person capable of unsettling your heart, your pride, and perhaps even your conscience.

Interpretata con irresistibile brio dall’attrice e autrice Chiara Francini, Perla è il cuore irriverente della serie, la donna che entra in ogni scena come se la vita avesse bisogno di un po’ più di lacca e di un paio di tacchi migliori. A prima vista può sembrare deliziosamente superficiale, sempre perfettamente pettinata, impeccabile nei suoi abiti e pronta alla battuta teatrale. Ma è proprio questo il bello di Perla. Sotto la superficie lucidata, i tailleur impeccabili e i tacchi vertiginosi, si nasconde una donna dotata di grande intuito, prontezza e una sorprendente intelligenza emotiva.
Played with irresistible flair by actress and author Chiara Francini, Perla is the irreverent heartbeat of the series, the woman who enters every scene as if life itself needed a bit more hairspray and a better pair of heels. At first glance, she seems deliciously superficial, always perfectly coiffed, impeccably dressed, and never far from a dramatic remark. But that is exactly the trick of Perla. Perla non entra semplicemente in una stanza. Perla arriva.
And truly, the show would not be the same without her. It needs her perfectly coiffed hair, her razor-sharp tailleurs, her impossibly high heels, and above all, her gift for turning every entrance into an event. Perla does not simply walk into a room. She arrives.

In questa serie, Napoli appare sotto una luce completamente diversa. Scompaiono il caos e l’atmosfera cupa a cui siamo abituati. Al loro posto troviamo luce, eleganza, terrazze panoramiche e viste sul mare che sembrano sospese tra realtà e finzione. È una versione di Napoli che si colloca al di sopra del tumulto, raffinata e forse un po’ idealizzata, ma non per questo meno affascinante.
In this series, Naples appears in an entirely different light. Gone is the usual chaos and cinematic gloom. Instead, we get sunlight, elegance, panoramic terraces, and sea views that seem to hover somewhere between reality and fiction. It is a version of Napoli perched safely above the fray, polished and a little idealized, perhaps, but no less enchanting for it.

Questa serie ha un fascino irresistibile. All’inizio mi aspettavo una commedia leggera e un po’ patinata, piacevole ma facile da dimenticare. Invece mi ha conquistata quasi subito. Alla fine del primo episodio, ero già completamente presa. Non è solo una storia d’amore, anche se il romanticismo mantiene sempre viva la tensione. È anche una storia di scelte difficili, identità nascoste e seconde possibilità.
This series has an irresistible charm. At first, I expected a light, glossy comedy, entertaining enough but easy to forget. Instead, it won me over almost immediately. By the end of the first episode, I was hooked. It is not just a love story, though romance certainly keeps things simmering. It is also a story of difficult choices, hidden identities, and second chances.
La cosa migliore è che è un vero regalo per chi studia italiano: i dialoghi sono naturali, il ritmo è vivace e le emozioni risultano autentiche. Il linguaggio è moderno, espressivo e pieno di quelle sfumature quotidiane che rendono la televisione italiana così piacevole da seguire.
Best of all, it is a gift for Italian learners, with natural dialogue, a lively pace, and emotions that feel real. The language is modern, expressive, and full of the kind of everyday turns of phrase that make Italian television so enjoyable.
È proprio il tipo di serie che ti fa dire: “Ancora un episodio e poi basta,” come se avessi davvero intenzione di fermarti. Nel corso di due stagioni, i colpi di scena non mancano, le complicazioni aumentano e la verità, prima o poi, trova sempre il modo di venire a galla.
It is exactly the sort of show that makes you promise yourself, “Just one more episode,” as though you have any intention of stopping. Across two seasons, the twists keep coming, the complications multiply, and the truth, sooner or later, always finds its way out.
Perché alla fine, in Italia come nella vita, le bugie hanno sempre le gambe corte. E non vanno mai molto lontano.
Because in the end, in Italy as in life, lies always have short legs. And they rarely get very far.
