Nella lingua italiana, il sonno ha un vocabolario tutto suo. Possiamo avere le palpebre pesanti, dormire come un sasso, fare sogni d’oro o persino sognare ad occhi aperti. In un verbo riflessivo, l’azione ritorna sul soggetto: mi rilasso, mi addormento, mi sveglio. In inglese non usiamo necessariamentemyself, ma in italiano il pronome riflessivo fa parte del verbo.
There’s also a little grammatical detail worth noticing: many Italian verbs connected with relaxing, sleeping, and waking up are reflexive. With a reflexive verb, the action comes back to the subject: I relax, I fall asleep, I wake up.
