Naturalmente gli anglofoni scelgono subito il verbo “to visit” (visitare) in italiano perché ricorda molto la nostra parola inglese “visit.” E in effetti è la traduzione letterale.

L’espressione “andare a trovare” qualcuno significa che sarete insieme: farete una chiacchierata o farete una cena informale in particolare con la famiglia, gli amici, le persone che amate e a cui tenete.
In spoken Italian, it is much more natural and fluid to use the expression “andare a trovare” when expressing the concept of a meeting between friends and family. This expression means that you will be together: you will have a chat or have an informal dinner, especially with your family, friends, and people you love and care about.

Viene anche utilizzato quando ci si riferisce a un programma per incontrare persone con cui non si è così vicini, persone che non si conoscono molto bene e vogliono essere più gentili e formali. Inoltre, potrebbe essere una riunione in un contesto formale, come tra re e regine, dignitari, capitani d’industria, anche star del cinema.
The verb “visit” instead is used more to indicate go to a “place.” It could be a park, a museum, a city, or a country. It could also be a doctor’s office or a dentist. It is also used when referring to a program to meet people with whom you are not so close, people who do not know each other very well and want to be more polite and formal. Moreover, it could be a meeting in a formal context, as between kings and queens, dignitaries, captains of industry, and even movie stars.
