La prima Festa della Mamma ufficiale in Italia è stata celebrata il 12 maggio 1957 ad Assisi, grazie all’iniziativa di don Otello Migliosi, parroco della chiesa di Tordibetto. Il successo di questa celebrazione ha portato al suo riconoscimento nazionale l’anno successivo. Nel 1958, fu presentata una proposta formale al Senato italiano per rendere la Festa della Mamma una festività ufficiale.

The first official Mother’s Day in Italy was celebrated on May 12, 1957, in Assisi, thanks to Rev. Otello Migliosi, the parish priest of the Tordibetto Church. The success of this celebration led to its national recognition the following year. By 1958, a formal proposal to establish Mother’s Day as an official holiday was presented to the Italian Senate.
