A volte ti senti confuso da quelle paroline italiane impacchettate insieme in frasi difficili da capire? Che cosa significano: “Cavarsela, Te l’hai, C’è lo, Me ne vado, Non c’è di che e Non ne posso più”???

Do you sometimes get confused by those little Italian words bundled together in phrases that are hard to fathom? What do “Cavarsela, Te l’hai, C’è lo, Me ne vado, Non c’è di che and Non ne posso più” mean anyway???

Il mio consiglio: non frustrarti
cercando di capire letteralmente cosa
significano queste frasi che fa girare la testa.

My advice: don’t get frustrated trying to understand
literally what these mind-boggling phrases mean.

Piuttosto che lottare per decifrare ogni piccola parola nella frase, prova invece a padroneggiare il significato dell’intera frase e memorizzalo. Poi, senza pensare troppo, puoi estrarre quella frase e inserirla in una conversazione. E proprio così, inizierai a suonare sempre più come un madrelingua italiano.

Rather than struggling to decipher each little word in the sentence, try instead to master the meaning of the entire phrase as a whole and commit it to memory. Then, without overthinking things, you can pull out that phrase and insert it into a conversation. And just like that, you will start sounding more and more like an Italian native speaker.

Qualche volta tu dovresti arrenderti! Smettila di farti male al cervello!

Ecco alcuni esempi. Ricorda, non farti intimidire dalle paroline che compongono queste frasi come “ne”, “c’è o “di che.” Invece, guarda il Quadro Generale e impari il significato dell’intera frase sul valore nominale.

Here are a few examples. Remember, don’t get intimidated by the little words that make up these phrases like “ne”, “c’è, or “di che.” Instead, see the Big Picture and learn the meaning of the entire phrase on face value.

Non ne posso più! = I can not stand it anymore!

Che c’è? = What’s up?

Cosa c’è di bello? = What’s good?

Dimmi qualcosa di bello. = Tell me something nice.

Tutto a posto? = Everything cool?

Che ne so, io? = What do I know about it?

Ho capito. = Got it. I understand.

Te l’hai con me? = Are you mad at me?

Fammi sapere. = Let me know.

Stammi bene! = Take care!

Ci sentiamo = Be in touch soon, We will hear from one another soon.

C’è l’hai? = You got it?

C’è l’ho. = I got it.

Non è un gran che. = It’s not that great.

Riesco a farlo = I can do it.

Sono capace di farlo. = I am able to do it.

Sei gentile. = You are very kind.

Sii gentile! = Come on be nice!

Sii felice! = Be happy!

Sei proprio una scema. = You’re such an idiot.

Può darsi. = Perhaps.

Divertitevi! = Enjoy yourselves (plural) / Divertiti! = Enjoy yourself (singular)

Abbi pazienza! = Be Patient!

In bocca al lupo! = Good luck!

Crepi! (Crepi il lupo) = Thanks! (lit. may the wolf die)

Ben fatto! = Well done!

Prego! = Of course, you’re welcome.

Scusi! (polite), Scusa! (informal) = Excuse me!

Permesso? = Can I come in? Am I allowed?

Mi dispiace! = I’m sorry!

Acqua in bocca! = Mum’s the word, Keep this under your hat, Not a word!

Macché = Certainly not!

Neanche per sogno! = In your dreams!

Peggio per te! = Too bad for you!

Piantala! = Stop it!

Smettila! = Stop it, Cut it out!

Vacci piano! = Slow down, take it easy.

Lascia perdere! = Let it go! Forget about it.

Basta così = That’s enough.

Eccomi! = I’m here! Here I am!

A presto! = Until next time, see you soon.

Sei matto/matta. = You’re crazy!
