“Wasp’s Nest” è il secondo volume della tetralogia di romanzi gialli scritta da Gabriel Valjan. In questo nuovo libro, ci incontriamo di nuovo la sua abile eroina Alabaster Black, alias Bianca Nerini, un’esperta ragioniere forense, e i suoi amici romani. Questa volta però, la trama si svolge a Boston e non a Roma. Tuttavia la narrativa è disseminata di riferimenti all’Italia e al cibo italiano.
“Wasp’s Nest” is the second book of a 4 part thriller series written by Gabriel Valjan. In this new book, we meet up once again with his intrepid heroine Alabaster Black, aka Bianca Nerini a savvy forensic accountant and her Roman friends. This time however, the plot takes place in Boston and not Rome. Nonetheless the story is filled with details of Italy and descriptions of Italian food.
Bianca è un genio del computer e un’investigatorice sotto copertura. Nel libro successore di “Roma Underground” (vedete la recensione qui) la protagonista e i suoi amici stanno esaminando le macchinazioni di una casa farmaceutica che utilizza il Dna delle vespe per la cura del cancro. Le loro indagini rivelano una cospirazione contorta che minaccia i loro legami di lealtà.
Bianca is a computer genius and undercover investigator. In the follow-up book to “Rome, Underground” she and her posse are looking into the machinations of a drug manufacturing company that uses Wasp DNA for the purpose of curing cancer. Their investigations uncover a twisted conspiracy that challenges their bonds of loyalty.
Ancora una volta la scrittura di Valjean è acuta e interessante. A volte molto divertente. È evidente che l’autore è un attento osservatore della vita quotidiana e comunica anche i dettagli più normali e banali in modo creativo e unico. A volte tuttavia, la ricchezza delle informazioni supplementari travolge la direzione generale della trama.
Once again Valjean’s writing is keen and interesting. At times quite delightful. It is evident that he is an astute observer of daily life and communicates even small inconsequential details in a creative way and unique manner. Sometimes, however, the wealth of extra information overwhelms the overall direction of the plot.
