Eccomi a Montepulciano con un nuovo gruppo degli studenti che studiano alla scuola di lingua italiana — Il Sasso — ed insieme stiamo esplorando un’altra parte della Toscana — Montepulciano.
Here I am in Montepulciano with a new group of students studying at the language school Il Sasso and exploring another part of Tuscany — Montepulciano.
Sembra che il santo patrono San Biagio (uno degli santi patroni di Montepulciano) ci stia osservando mentre girovagiamo per la città e nei dintorni, così come durante le ore mattutine che trascorriamo in classe alla scuola di lingue Il Sasso.
It seems the Patron Saint San Biagio of Montepulciano (one of the patron saints of Montepulciano) is keeping a watchful eye on us as we wander around town and into the surrounding environs, as well as during the morning hours that we spend in class at Il Sasso language school.
Proprio l’altro giorno siamo scesi giù per la collina fino al tempio di San Biagio per rendere omaggio al Vescovo, venerati per aver salvato un bambino piccolo dal soffocare su un osso di pesce. La chiesa è spettacolare dentro e fuori. Mentre ci camminavamo verso l’esterno, mentre si avvicinava un temporale minaccioso, le pietre stesse dell’edificio brillavano nonostante i cieli tempestosi. Tuttavia, ha iniziato a piovere solo dopo che siamo entrati in chiesa. Quindi Biagio ha fatto educatamente fermare la pioggia in modo da poter risalire in cima a Montepulciano senza bagnarci. Mentre camminavamo, i cieli si schiarirono e fummo trattati da una vista spettacolare sulla Val d’Orcia che si allargava sotto di noi.
Just the other day, we climbed down the hill to the temple of San Biagio to pay our respects to the Bishop, venerated for having saved a small child from choking on a fish bone. The church is spectacular inside and out. As we traipsed around the exterior, as a menacing rainstorm approached, it seemed the very stones of the building glowed despite the stormy skies. However, it only started to pour after we entered the church. Then Biagio politely made the rain stop so we could climb back to the top Montepulciano without getting wet. As we walked the skies cleared and we were treated to a spectacular view of the Val d’Orcia valley the spread out below us.
Nelle ultime due settimane, sono stata impegnata anche in altre attività di gruppo e, prima che la settimana me ne andasse, volevo condividere alcune foto di alcune delle cose che il nostro gruppo ha fatto. Non solo siamo stati impegnati con molte attività divertenti, ma ogni giorno insieme a Montepulciano, dentro e fuori la classe, ci offre l’opportunità di rafforzare la lingua e facilitare la conversazione in lingua italiana!
For the past two weeks, I’ve been busy with other group activities as well, and before the week got away from me, I wanted to share a few photos of some of the things our group has been doing. Not only have we been busy with lots of fun activities, but each day together in Montepulciano, inside and outside the class room, provides an opportunity to reinforce the language and facilitate Italian language conversation!
Le nostre attività hanno incluso degustazioni di vini alla cantina Crociani, cene organizzate presso le trattorie locale, la preparazione di pici pasta con Claudia al ristorante Covo, un’escursione alla villa la Foce di Iris Origo e cena a Dopo Lavoro, gite a piedi della città, un’escursione a Chiusi per vedere Etrusca rovine e persino una gita di un giorno a Perugia e un tour della fabbrica di cioccolato Baci Perugina dove abbiamo assaggiato i cioccolati famosi.
Our activities have included wine tastings at the Crociani cantina, organized dinners at local trattorie, pici pasta making with Claudia at il Covo ristorante, an excursion to Iris Origo’s villa la Foce and dinner at Dopo Lavoro, walking tours of the city, Chiusi to see Etruscan ruins and even a day trip to Perugia and a tour of the Baci Perugina Chocolate Factory and a chocolate tasting.
Imparare alla scuola di italiano Il Sasso è stata un’esperienza deliziosa, ed è stato un piacere vivere in questa piccola città e conoscere meglio la gente del posto, oltre a fare nuove amicizie nella scuola.
Learning at Il Sasso Italian school has been a delightful experience, and it has been a lovely living in this small town and getting to know the locals better, as well as make more friends at the school.
