Conoscete lo show americano televisivo di successo “Parenthood” – nato da un’idea di Ron Howard? Se la risposta è sì, ho buona notizia per voi. Circa tre anni fa, la NBC ha negoziato un accordo con la società italiana Cattleya per produrre il dramma familiare degli Stati Uniti per il pubblico italiano su RAI Uno.
Are you familiar with the American hit TV show “Parenthood” – the brainchild of Ron Howard? If you are, you are in for a treat. About three years ago NBC brokered a deal with Italy’s Cattleya to produce the remake of the long-running U.S. family drama to air on RAI Uno in Italy.
La versione italiana è intitolata “Tutto può succedere” e segue la stessa trama generale della versione Americana con la stessa famiglia di personaggi multi-generazionali. Ma ora, invece di un ritmo americano con la storia ambientata a Berkeley in California, la versione di RAI è ora ambientata a Roma, in Italia, con un’innegabile atmosfera italiana contemporanea. Eppure, come nella versione originale della NBC, lo spettacolo si concentra ancora sul concetto di famiglia con tutte le sue complessità e la sua dinamica di “odio-amore” che rimangono ancora al centro.
The Italian version of the program is called “Tutto può succedere” – Anything can happen – and it follows the same general storyline as the American version with the same family of multi-generational characters. But, now instead of an American beat with the story is set in Berkeley California, the RAI version is now set in Rome Italy with an undeniable contemporary Italian vibe. Still, like the original NBC version, the show still focuses on the concept of family with all its complexities and its “love-hate” dynamics that still remain at its core.
La versione Italiana di Parenthood è piena di Italo A-listers: The Italian version of Parenthood is packed with Italo A-listers, includes: Pietro Sermonti, Maya Sansa, Ana Caterina Morariu, Alessandro Tiberi, Camilla Filippi, Fabio Ghidoni, Licia Maglietta and Giorgio Colangeli.
E…ahem…nella terza stagione anche il cast è cresciuto per includere Giuseppe Zeno (il Signor Mori del “Il paradiso delle Signore.”) Confesso di aver deciso di guardare il drama solo perché avevo letto che lo Zeno avrebbe interpretato l’interesse amoroso di Sara interpretata dall’attrice italiana Maya Sansa (FYI: la parte interpretata dell’attrice americana Lauren Graham di Gilmore Girls).
And…ahem…in season 3 the cast also grew to include Giuseppe Zeno (Signor Mori del “Il paradiso delle Signore.”) I confess I fell into the show only because I had read the Zeno was to play Sara’s love interest played by the Italian actress Maya Sansa (FYI: the part played by the America actress Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls fame).
Quando ho iniziato a guardare “Tutto può succedere – su RAI Play su internet – ho avuto la strana sensazione di averlo visto prima. Poi mi sono reso conto, naturalmente, la ragione. Perché … infatti l’avevo già visto.
When I started watching the show – streaming it on the RAI Play website – I had the funny feeling I’d seen it all before. Then I realized of course because I had!

Tuttavia, nonostante sapendo la trama in anticipo, penso che gli scrittori italiani abbiano fatto un fantastico lavoro di adattamento delle sei stagione del dramma americano in tre per lo spettacolo italiano. Il dramma ha mantenuto un ritmo costante ed è stato completamente divertente. Ho visto l’intera stagione 3 in solo un paio di giorni. La cosa particolarmente ottimo di guardare lo show su sito di RAI è si può accendere i sottotitoli.
Still, despite knowing the storyline in advance, I thought the Italian writers did a fantastic job of adapting the six seasons of the American drama into three for the Italian show. The drama kept a steady pace and was thoroughly entertaining. I whipped through the entire season 3 episodes in just a couple of days. What is pretty neat about watching the show on the RAI site is that you have the option also to turn on subtitles.
Quindi complimenti per la serie “Tutto può succedere.” Se state cercando uno show che tratta di una famiglia, pieno di drammi e tanti italiani che litigano attorno al tavolo – poi si baciano e si fanno la pace – questo è il dramma per voi! È una grande fuga estiva!
So thumbs up for the series “Tutto può succedere.” If you are looking for a family show, full of drama and lots of Italians arguing around the dinner table – then kiss one another and make up – this is the drama for you! It is a great summer escape!

Thanks for this post. I have downloaded the Hola app, but it still keeps telling me I can’t view it from outside of Italy.

With the Hola Chrome app installed and running some times you have to refresh the browser after first navigating to the RAI site. If you continue to get the error message, pause the video and go to the Hola app in the Chrome browser bar at the top and refresh the Hola app itself from there until the video plays. It asks you after it spins around a couple of times if that worked. (The other alternative is to subscribe to the private Hola service for about $3.75 a month. There are other private VPN services out there, but I found Hola to be the easiest to install and use.)
