Quest’estate ho ricevuto la mia dose quotidiana di italiano guardando la TV italiana su Netflix ogni sera e durante il giorno ascoltando i podcast italiani registrati da madrelingua che abitano in ogni parte di Italia. Su Spotify ne ho scoperto alcuni veramente buoni (vedi alla fine del post per il link per le recensione dei miei preferiti). Vorrei aggiungerne altri due alla mia lista in crescita.
This summer I got my daily dose of Italian by watching Italian TV on Netflix every night and during the day listening to Italian podcasts recorded by native speakers who live all over Italy. On Spotify I have discovered a lot of really good ones(see at the end of the post for the link for my favorite reviews). I’d like to add two more to my growing list.

My Italian Podcast is produced by two native Italian speakers, Cristina and Sabrina, certified language teachers. The women speak almost entirely in Italian, but still, it is a perfect podcast for beginning students and intermediate students.

Cristina is from Milan, and Sabrina is from Liguria, so you will have the opportunity to learn about the Italian culture of northern Italy and the northern coastal region.

The women are easy to listen to as they interact with one another. Each episode is dedicated to a specific topic that helps increase your Italian vocabulary and knowledge of Italian grammar while also giving you insights into language and culture. Although Cristina is located in Canada now, and Sabrina is located in Liguria, the two share their experiences growing up in Italy. They discuss places they have traveled in Italy, expressions, idioms, and information about cultural holidays and events, food, as well as current events.

I have listened to almost all My Italian Podcast episodes as I take long walks around my neighborhood every day. The spots aren’t that long, so you won’t be overwhelmed with too much information. Usually, in a fourty minute walkabout, I can listen to three or four episodes.

The second podcast of interest that I’d like to share with you is: Una Storia ItaliAnna.
Anna è anche un esperta insegnante d’italiano di Venezia, quindi avrai l’opportunità di conoscere Venezia e le usanze veneziane. Anna parla anche 99% in italiano, ma direi che questo podcast è un po’ più avanzato del podcast precedente. Una Storia ItaliAnna. è disegnato per aiutare gli studenti di livello intermedio a diventare più fluenti. Se hai difficoltà a tenere passo con i suoi dialoghi, Anna consiglia di ridurre la velocità nella tua app. Consiglia anche di prendere appunti e ascoltare ogni podcast una seconda o terza volta per concentrarsi su nuove parole e grammatica che potrebbero non esserti familiari.
Anna is also an experienced Italian teacher from Venice, so you will have an opportunity to learn about Venice and Venetian customs. Anna also speaks 99% in Italian, but I’d say this podcast is a bit more advanced than the previous podcast. Una Storia ItaliAnna. is designed to help intermediate learners become more fluent. Anna recommends that if you have difficulty keeping up with her dialogue, simply decrease the playback speed in your app. She also advises taking notes and listening to each podcast a second or third time to focus on new words and grammar that might be unfamiliar to you.

Ho già ascoltato quasi tutti i podcast di Anna e li trovo imformativi, divertenti e personali. Sebbene molti podcast italiani condividano aneddoti culturali simili sulle tradizioni delle vacanze, la cultura del caffè e le pratiche culturali, ognuno è leggermente unico nel suo modo di presentare lo stesso materiale. Ad esempio, in un episodio su Halloween Anna descrive di essere stata introdotta alla festa da bambina. I’ve already listened to almost all of Anna’s podcasts and find them to be informative, fun, and personal. While many Italian podcasts share similar cultural anecdotes about holiday traditions, coffee culture, and traditional practices, each is slightly unique in its way of presenting the same material. For instance, in an episode about Halloween, she describes being introduced to the holiday as a little girl. To her listening audience, she recalls how very “foreign” the concept of trick-or-treating was. At the same time, she notes how it was also extremely intriguing to her and all the children in her classroom.
